Rune Mastery - Questions and Answers (Q&A)

Q: My Rune master wants to put a rune on a rock but does not have a stone working skill can he still do this or does he need to learn the skill first?

A: The rune master can employ any method to get his runes onto a surface so he does not need to learn any additional skills. He is able to Scratch, Tattoo, Burn etc his runes onto any item as long as he has the relevant equipment.

Q: Can my rune master inscribe his runes onto paper with ink?

A: Yes.

Q: Can runes be tattooed onto my own skin?

A: Yes, but unless they are permanent they will fade after one use

Q: Does my Temporary imbued rune item count as magical?

A: When an item has non-permanent runes it is non-magical until the rune is employed. So a shatter or rust spell will destroy the item (and all runes) unless one of the runes is active. (It is possible to activate a rune as a magical spell is being cast, as it is quicker to activate a rune than to cast a spell).

An item with a permanent rune inscribed on it is magical, even if its runes have faded.

Q: When a rune smith dies does his runes loose their power.

A: No, they only loose their power when they are used. Permanent runes are forever.

Q: I have a mage character, can he use his MP’s to inscribe runes and on the same vein can a Rune master use his MP’s to cast spells.

A: Yes, as long as he has the learnt respective level to cast the spell or inscribe the rune. In the case of a spell the spell must have also been learnt. NB: If creating runes prior to the adventure, those magic points are now spent until the runes are used (they can not be restored with a restoration potion until the rune has been cast). Otherwise the magic points are regained at the end of the adventure as usual.

Q: What realm does Rune Mastery count as?

A: Rune mastery is a hybrid realm, but each rune is attuned to an element, so if an air mage wishes to enchant an ‘earth’ rune he must spend double points to inscribe it.

Q: What happens if a rune is inscribed into a Warpstone?

A: The warpstone counts as a magical item and can be inscribed, but the effects will be random (ref driven, done as 50% chance of a good or detrimental effect).

Q:

A: All runed items must be ‘in use’ in order to work. i.e. If you have a rune on a dagger, the dagger must physically be in your hand, not in its sheath to work.
