ANUBIS – The Doomsayer Lord of Fate, Fortune and the Future

Status:  1st Generation Elder God

Level:  5000

Avatar:  Aarint

Seen wrongly as the God of the dawn, Anubis is a deviatory lord of the coming future.

Anubis came unto Eä with the powers to see the webs woven by Demios before they come to be. His talent immediately stood him in good standing to become the advisor to Marnarka. His job being to advise on the things that were to come. Anubis was good at his job, but eventually became arrogant. His all-knowing role made him believe that he should become leader and master of the God’s. He confronted Marnarka and Tanarsa with his intentions to take Tanarsa as his own wife and condemn Marnarka to a life of slavery under Anubis’ own whims and desires.

To this Marnarka laughed and dismissed him. Waving him away and taking Tanarsa by the arm Marnarka turned his back on Anubis. Anubis in a divine rage tore two lightning-bolts from the heavens and hurled the first into Marnarka’s back. Marnarka stumbled forward and collapsed to his knees. Tanarsa spun around in time to counter the second blast of lighting from Anubis.

Marnarka rose to his feat and in anger said unto Anubis ‘Thou art nothing, get thee hence to the farthest corners of my realm and never doth return.’

Anubis responded ‘Marnarka thou art nothing to mine powers for I can foresee a day when even you will be forgotten, your powers are even weakening as we speak. Lo, I see hence your treacherous wife in the arm of a great sea God and I see bastard children not of thou own. What say thee hence to my words, Wind Lord?’

Shocked by Anubis’ out burst Marnarka summoned a great tornado that whisked Anubis up from the great court of Bifrost and dumped him unceremoniously on the slopes of Mount Saphon.

To this day Anubis remains an outcast deity driven from Bifrost by the rest of the pantheon. He skulks around in the mountainous edges of Bifrost It is here that he has made his home on the slopes of Mount Saphon.

To Mortals his appearance is of a handsome virginal figure who rides in a hundred chariots, setting all things of the future into motion before they are supposed to be. He is a somewhat chaotic God who’s mind flits from one ‘Web’ woven by Demios to another and is renowned for granting his devotees great political strength and fame in fits of generosity. To Immortals and extremely powerful Mortals, Anubis is an old bent man dressed in rags.

He is also less known as a giver of the boon of life longevity, and is a master huntsman who wastes human life.

His followers tend to mimic their lords chaotic nature and take delight in advising others when a terrible fate is about to befall them – usually when it is to late for them to do anything about it.

Anubis is usually worshipped by jilted lovers, manic-depressives and people who have very little to live for and have generally given up on life. People whose only happiness is to see everyone’s life before it occurs and take twisted happiness from all their future downfalls that are yet to come to pass.

WORSHIP

Worship to Anubis is a very sombre and depressing affair. The Priests are doomistic to the point of non-action and apathy. They never celebrate or show and outwards signs of happiness, their doom being known to them when they join the guild. What else have they got to live for?

TEMPLES

Temples are exceptionally sparse – anything of value usually having been stolen, as they are susceptible to theft and exploitation due to their ‘who cares’ attitude.

HOLY DAYS

There are no holy days to Anubis.

FRIENDS AND ENEMIES

Priests of Anubis care very little about any other guild, but suffer animosity towards Marnarka and Tanarsa.

CULT REQUIREMENTS

There are no specific requirements, but only those that are very morbid and depressed ever become Priests.

All followers are devout; there are no templars to Anubis.
